Your Mid-Week Butt Kickin’ – Getting Back to the Why
I had a coaching call today and while it is geared towards chiropractic (my profession/passion) it really could work for anyone and in any aspect of his or her life. In this call it talked about why you do what you do. Why you get out of bed every morning. And where people get lost, is that the “Why” can often mean money, ego or simply “I have to get up and go to work so I can pay my bills.” We often focus on the outside reasons for “Why”. What I would ask you to focus on is the inside reasons for “Why”. Those inside reasons being: purpose, cause and belief.
People don’t buy “What” you sell they buy “Why” you sell it. They don’t buy “What” you do but “Why” you do it. If you go to work each day simply to earn a paycheck or because you are in survival mode, people feel that. When your “Why” is fuzzy, it will also become unclear to those around you. Now you may be asking who cares about my “Why”? That’s a very good question and the answer is only you need to care about your “Why”. Only you need to care about your purpose, cause and belief. Often I find these come into question when there is an issue with self esteem. AND WE ALL have these from time to time. So if you want to reconnect or simply just connect to these three, let’s do a self esteem tune-up.
10 steps to change your self esteem:
- Get acquainted with the real you.
- Laugh at your handicaps.
- Put your failures into perspective.
- Develop a healthy love of yourself.
- Find someone that needs your help.*HUGE, the best one of them all!
- Deliberately change your behavior.
- Choose a creative challenge.
- Get comfortable with complaints.
- Re-evaluate your self worth.
- See a brand new picture.
With these don’t try and do all ten because you won’t; simply pick a couple that resonate with you.
