28. Eat with your head days 1 thru 6, eat with your heart on day 7.
There are things we love to eat and then there are things we know we should eat. Unfortunately for most of us, the things we love to eat are bad for us and the things we know we should eat aren’t at the top of our list. If you need a Tool to help you with the Nutrition section of your form, try this. What you do is look at your week and find six days to eat the way you know you should. This will differ from person to person depending upon nutritional goals and needs. Then identify one day that you can eat whatever you like. I find for me that what works the best is having Sunday as my free day. But what I also do is change that day when I see something that’s coming up that could cause trouble. If I’m going to the State Fair on a Friday night, I know the hazards that will be there so I simply change that to my free day.
The reason this works well is it makes it simple to know what you should be eating that day and you avoid cheating. It also helps you avoid being bad by knowing you have a reward day coming up. What I also really like about doing this is that on my free day, since I had been eating so well all week, I found I didn’t really want to eat that much garbage on my free day. So I ended up not really pigging out like the free day would imply. This Tool really illustrates a perfect example of how the book’s system works. Then in the Tool section, you pick something like this to help implement it and make the goal become reality. So give it a try if this is an area of struggle for you and see if it helps out.
